Due to the volume of commissions I recently acquired at the Jane Austen Festival in Cincinnati, I am putting a hold on new commissions until further notice. I expect to be able to resume taking on new work by October, 2026, but cannot commit to a date at this time. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. I am so grateful for all of my customers, and do not wish to disappoint any of you by promising more than I can deliver in a timely way. Thank you so much for your patience!
With the exception of the annual Jane Austen Festival, Shocking Bad Hats are usually sold exclusively by commission. I love working with my customers to create exactly the hat you envision, whether its a reproduction of a museum piece, a favorite hat from a period film or television show, or one-a-kind original.
Every commission is a little different, but as a general rule, once we have decided on the basic details of what you have in mind, I will need your contact information and a shipping address, at which point you will be official added to the queue. I usually keep in touch with you throughout the process, and will let you know when I have begun work, and when you might expect the hat to be ready. Historically, my turn around time is pretty quick—-but depending on the length of the queue, the time frame may vary. If you need a special hat in time for a particular event, please don’t hesitate to ask if It is possible to meet a tight deadline—-I will always do my best to accommodate!
I reserve the right to require a deposit, but in general, payment in full is expected as soon as the hat is finished to your satisfaction, and ready to ship.
