Marie Walewska was a Polish Countess and mistress of the Emperor Napoleon, and the "chopka," a style of hat worn by the Polish cavalry and adopted by women of style in the period when "a la militaire" fashion was all the rage. In soft, flattering pink silk taffeta, trimmed with a double rosette of silk and a sari border hatband, the edges outlined in vintage metal soutache. Everything is topped with piles of dyed-to-match ostrich plumes. Size 22.5." Cotton drawstring lining.
